Learn how to make homemade vanilla cupcakes. These cupcakes are moist, soft and rich. In this recipe I topped the cupcakes with simple buttercream frosting. They are perfect for birthdays, holidays and any occasion.
How to Make Vanilla Cupcakes
Ingredients:
For the cupcakes:
1¼ cups (156g) Flour
1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp.
(125g) Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup (115g) Butter, softened
2 Eggs
1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk/Milk
1/3 cup (80ml) vegetable oil or 1/2 cup sour cream
For the frosting:
1/2 cup (115g) Butter, softened
1½ cups (190g) Powdered sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
2 tablespoons Milk
Directions /
1- Make the cupcakes: Preheat oven.
2- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until smooth.
Add eggs, one at the time, beating until combined after each addition.
Add oil, vanilla extract, buttermilk and beat until combined.
3- Sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Mix until well combined.

-Scoop the batter into the cupcake liners, about 3/4 of the way full.
5-Bake for 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the cupcakes on a wire rack.
6- Make the frosting: In a large bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
Beat in powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, beating in between.
Add vanilla extract, milk and beat until incorporated.
Transfer to a piping bag.
7- Frost the cupcakes as desired.
